Tom Brady Joins Celtics Contingent In Hamptons For Kevin Durant Meeting

BOSTON (CBS) – It appears the Celtics may have turned to the biggest sports star in New England to help them lure the free agent prize.

A Reddit user posted a picture on Saturday afternoon that appears to show Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge walking through the Hamptons with Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in advance of the team's scheduled meeting with Kevin Durant.

The Celtics are reportedly scheduled to meet with Durant Saturday night, one of six teams he will meet this weekend in the luxurious New York community.

While other teams such as the Clippers and Warriors, two teams that met with Durant on Friday, were able to bring more on-court star power to their meetings, the Celtics turned to Brady in addition to their own contingent of players that reportedly included Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder.

Thomas, who has been adamantly pitching Durant to join him in Boston, appears ready for the meeting.

Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe confirmed the Brady sighting through a source.

Kelly Olynyk and Marcus Smart could be seen walking behind Ainge and Brady in the picture posted on Saturday.

The Celtics hope their Saturday presentation, along with the possibility of adding Al Horford, can woo Durant to Boston. Durant is said to be leaning heavily toward a return to Oklahoma City.

Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz was not able to join the group courting Durant, but he did make his pitch on Twitter, saying, "Sorry I couldn't make the meeting today bu Brady will tell u they don't call Boston the City of Champions for nothing."
