Customer Allegedly Attacks Bank Manager With 3-Hole Punch

SALEM, N.H. (CBS) – Police arrested a woman they say attacked a New Hampshire bank manager with a 3-hole punch in a dispute over a check.

The incident was reported Thursday at 4:15 p.m. on North Broadway in Salem.

Police say a customer became "irate" when a bank employee refused to cash her check.

The customer, identified as Leanne Yerian, allegedly picked up a large metal three-hole punch from a desk and hit the female manager over the head.

According to police, Yerian then jumped on the manager, pulled her hair and slammed her against the wall. Yerian allegedly strangled the manager to the point that she couldn't call for help.

Salem Police say a male employee was hit in the back of the neck and scratched by Yerian as he tried to break up the altercation.

Yerian, 35, was arrested and charged with one count of second degree assault, strangulation and two counts of simple assault.

She was scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.
