Braintree Neighborhood On Alert After Man Followed Women Home

BRAINTREE (CBS) – Police have stepped up patrols in Braintree's Watson Park neighborhood after a suspicious man followed two women home.

One of the victims tells WBZ the man grabbed her. "I didn't even notice him following me until right before it happened," Kayla said. "All of a sudden he was just there."

It was the last thing Kayla expected as she made the mile walk home from a friend's house Saturday evening.

"It's a very family oriented neighborhood so I did not think it could happen here," Kayla said.

Without warning she says a young man grabbed her from behind. Her reaction prompted the suspect to run away.

Just two days earlier, a woman in her 30s was playing at Watson Park with her one year-old when she noticed a man watching. She decided to walk home, but he followed and even walked up her driveway until, she says, she let her dog outside. The man took off and she called police.

Residents say both incidents have given them pause. "I would like to continue to come here, but if he's not caught, then we probably won't be coming back," said one woman at the park.

Fearful of what will happen next, Kayla wants everyone to know what happened to her. "He will do it again unless he's caught," she says.

The suspect is described as a white male between the ages of 18 and 22, wearing a solid white T-shirt and black shorts. Police are investigating if the same man is involved in both incidents.
