Brockton Couple Found Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide
BROCKTON (CBS) – Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Brockton.
On Wednesday night, investigators found the bodies of 53-year-old Rosa Goncalves and 61-year-old Antonio Cardoso in an apartment on Mason Street.
Police believe Cardoso murdered Goncalves and then killed himself.
Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz says the couple was in a long-term relationship.
"We're going to wait regarding at least for the cause of death as it pertains to the woman that was found in one of the bedrooms, but it appears that the gentleman hung himself at some point after the initial act," Cruz said. "I believe it's a domestic violence situation."
It is believed Goncalves may have been strangled but the final determination will be made by the medical examiner.
