Third-Annual Roller Disco Party To Honor Singer Donna Summer

BOSTON (AP) — The third-annual roller disco party honoring singer Donna Summer will be held this week on Boston's City Hall Plaza.

The Donna Summer Celebration of Summer Roller Disco Party is scheduled for Friday evening. It will feature music by DJ Kon, also known as Christian Taylor, a member of Boston's hip-hop scene for decades. Members of Summer's extended family, including her nephew, O'Mega Red, will also attend.

The event is free and open to the public. The city will provide free roller skate rentals on a first-come, first-served basis, but guests are encouraged to bring their own skates.

Summer, a Boston native, was known as the "Queen of Disco" in the 1970s with hit songs that included "Last Dance, "Hot Stuff" and "Bad Girls." She died in 2012.
