Bent Nails Purposely Scattered Outside Cheshire Fire Station

CHESHIRE (CBS) -- Members of the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department found nails scattered across the pavement in front of the fire truck garages Thursday night.

The incident is an apparent attempt to deflate their truck tires when they respond to the call, the Department said. Some of the nails bent at 90 degree angles to better penetrate the tires.

Members found the nails when they arrived at the fire station for their weekly drill.

"This type of behavior is ridiculous and criminal but this is the kind of ridiculousness we deal with," the Department posted on their Facebook page. "It's unreal how low some people will stoop."

The Department did not disclose whether they have any leads on suspects.
