TBT: Red Sox' 1986 Appreciation Parade

BOSTON (CBS) -- The 1986 Red Sox, who came just one strike away from a World Series title, were honored at Fenway Park on Wednesday night.

It's been 30 years since that team won the AL pennant before falling to the New York Mets in the fall classic in seven games. Though they didn't win it all, the team wanted to make sure they showed their appreciation to the fans who supported them throughout the regular season and their postseason run.

What better way to do that than with a parade?

Yes, the 1986 runner ups held a parade through the streets of Boston, with 750,000 fans making their way along the route and to City Hall Plaza to cheer on the team. Check out a special Throwback Thursday video above, as Channel 4's Bob Lobel recaps all the support and thank you's -- from players and fans -- from 30 years ago.
