Phantom Gourmet: Steak Tip Joints In Greater Boston
BOSTON (CBS) -- For more than 40 years, steak tips lovers have flocked to the Newbridge Cafe in Chelsea.
The cafe cooks the steak tips on a skewer before putting them on the grill.
The appropriately named Tip Tap Room on Beacon Hill features craft beers on tap, and a variety of tips including chicken, lamb, steak and swordfish.
Dom's in Malden was originally known for their sausage, but these days they are just as famous for steak tips made with a top-secret marinade.
The tips have a sweet flavor, with hints of caramel and smokiness.
Interestingly, steak tips are unique to New England, while the rest of the country likely has not heard of them. Other areas have sirloin tips, or tri-tips, but they are not quite the same thing.
