Jackie Bradley Jr. Named AL Player Of The Week
BOSTON (CBS) -- Jackie Bradley Jr. had himself an incredible week at the plate, earning him a special honor on Monday.
The Red Sox center fielder was named American League Player of the Week on Monday after he hit .469 with a .485 on-base percentage and an .813 slugging percentage. He clubbed a pair of doubles, three homers and drove in 15 runs over that span, recording multiple hits in five of Boston's seven games.
Bradley increased his hitting streak to 21 games with a 1-for-5 showing in a 10-9 win over the Houston Astros on Sunday. It's the longest hitting streak in the majors this season, with Bradley leading the majors with a 1.211 OPS and 26 RBIs over that span.
For the season, Bradley is hitting .331 with a .374 OBP and .588 slugging percentage to go with six homers and 30 RBIs.
It's safe to say Sox first baseman Hanley Ramirez is pretty excited about the news. A shirtless Ramirez crashed an interview with Bradley about the award on MLB Network, and did some jumping jacks and shadowboxing in the background.
