Ortiz Welcomes Sick Boy He Hit Home Run For To Fenway Park

BOSTON (CBS) -- David Ortiz welcomed a special friend to Fenway Park on Wednesday.

It was two weeks ago that Ortiz fulfilled a promise to a sick boy, hitting a home run for six-year-old Maverick Shutte of Wyoming. Maverick suffers from a rare congenital heart defect and relies on a feeding tube and a ventilator, and watches baseball to forget about his illness.

He watched Ortiz blast a game-winning homer against the Yankees for him from his home, but always dreamed of going to Fenway Park. That dream was fulfilled on Wednesday:

Former Red Sox first baseman Kevin Millar, who flew Maverick in on his private plane, and Ortiz showed the six-year-old around the ballpark, letting him check out the Boston clubhouse, the batting cages and even get a feel for the famous Green Monster.

He then threw out the first pitch, and had front-row seats for Boston's 13-3 win over the Athetics. He even got a bat from Big Papi to add to his collection of goodies.

A great story keeps getting better for Maverick.
