Daily Talker: Reverse Suspension

How do you stop children from acting out in school? One school in West Virginia is trying a new approach. Instead of suspending students they are having their parents spend the day with them in school. They're calling it reverse suspension. Parents of students who commit non-violent, non-verbally abusive behavior are offered the option of so-called reverse suspension. About 30 families have reportedly taken this option. One mom says the embarrassment factor is effective. What child wants their mom or dad with them all day? The principal says some kids view a suspension as a break from school making it an ineffective punishment. He says the new alternative has helped cut bad behavior in half and suspensions are down by two-thirds. What do you think? Is this a better way to punish and prevent bad behavior?
