Sports Final: Cedric Maxwell On Celtics' Offseason Outlook

BOSTON (CBS) -- After a disappointing early exit from the playoffs, the Boston Celtics now look toward what should be an exciting offseason for the franchise.

It's clear the Celtics need a true star (or two) on their roster, but the good news is Danny Ainge has plenty of assets to work with this summer in young talent, a handful of first-round picks and money to spend on the free agent market.

Celtics radio analyst Cedric Maxwell joined Dan Roche on WBZ-TV's Sports Final on Sunday night to look ahead to the offseason, and while doesn't think it's very likely that Kevin Durant will leave Oklahoma City for Boston, he believes Ainge has the necessary pieces in place to bring the franchise to that next level.

"Danny Ainge is holding a lot of cards. There is a bunch of money out there, guys could be traded. This is going to be an exciting time with the Celtics on the upswing," said Max. "You think about it, Brad Stevens is essential, you have a good player in Isaiah Thomas who did a great job becoming a star in this league, you have Marcus Smart and the ancillary pieces. Now you have to build around those pieces to become a championship contender."

So who will stay and who will go on the Celtics roster, and is Isaiah Thomas a good piece to a championship team? Max breaks it all down in the video above!
