Medford Police Officer Buys Nets For Kids' Basketball Hoops

MEDFORD (CBS) -- When Officer Hartnett of the Medford Police Department saw children playing basketball without nets on the hoops, he decided to do something about it.

Hartnett bought replacement netting for the hoops on the basketball court on Rockwell Avenue--and asked Medford Firefighters to help him and his partner, Officer Conway, hang them.

Officer Hartnett of the Medford Police Department often drove by the Rockwell Ave basketball courts to see children playing basketball without nets on the hoops. He decided to go out on his own and purchase nets for the court. Officer Hartnett, along with his partner Officer Conway, asked Engine 4 for assistance in hanging the nets. Engine 4 Group A was happy to come out and lend a ladder to the officers. It's great to see examples of our city's public servants taking pride in their community and helping out the local kids.
