Police Search For Driver Who Hit Boy In Brockton

BROCKTON (CBS) – A 13-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after he was struck by a car in Brockton Wednesday afternoon.

Elias Lebon was hit at the intersection of Cross and Winslow Streets. He suffered a broken leg and is in serious condition at Boston Children's Hospital.

The white Kia sedan that hit Lebon fled the scene. The vehicle was later recovered on Chatham West Drive, but no suspects have been found.

"I was shocked and I was hurt inside," Lebon's friend told WBZ-TV's Katie Brace. "He was laying down on the floor and I was there to hold his hand and tell him to stay down until his mom comes."

Residents say Cross Street is used as a "raceway" and want the crash to serve as a wake-up.

"It's only a matter of time because the children, they play and they run across the street and they don't pay attention to traffic because they're children," Chandra Davis said. "The adults and people who drive up and down this street should be responsible."

Police say the car was rented from Logan Airport.
