The Framingham scenes aim to show the events of April 19, 2013, when officers exchanged gunfire with Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in the streets of Watertown.

After a daylong search, police eventually found Tsarnaev hiding in a boat in a Watertown resident's backyard.

Dic Donohue, the MBTA police officer critically injured in the shootout, said he met with the film's producers.

"I've spoken with Peter Berg and members of the movie production crew," Donohue said, "and when I had that sit down, it was definitely the first thing I said is 'we want to be honest, we want to be accurate we want to portray the heroism.'"

Patriots Day is being produced by WBZ's sister company CBS Films.
