Boil Water Order Issued At Wellesley College Due To E. Coli

WELLESLEY (CBS) – Four Wellesley College buildings were placed under a boil water advisory due to water samples that were contaminated by bacteria.

The Massachusetts Department of Enviornmental Protection issued the order for Weston Terrace, Fiske House, the Wellesley Community Children's Center and the Child Study Center due to levels of E. coli and total coliform.

Anyone in those buildings should boil water before drinking it.

"The advisory was issued on the basis of routine testing of our water system, which determined that the portion of the system that reaches those four buildings has tested positive for bacterial contamination," the school said. "We are currently flushing the system and will continue routine testing throughout the weekend."

The contamination is not impacting any Wellesley residents outside the four campus buildings.
