Report: Former Patriots Tight End Scott Chandler May Be Retiring

BOSTON (CBS) -- Former New England Patriot and veteran tight end Scott Chandler may be retiring due to his latest knee injury, according to a tweet from his wife.

Chandler caught 23 passes for 259 yards and four touchdowns last season with the Patriots. He was released by the team this offseason.

He was hobbled by the knee injury at the end of the season and underwent surgery this week.

Alissa Chandler tweeted that he likely will miss the upcoming season and could possibly retire.

The tight end has played for the San Diego Chargers, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills and the Patriots. Chandler was also a member of the New York Giants, but he didn't appear in a game for the team due to injuries.

In his career, he has caught 205 passes for 2,379 yards and 43 touchdowns.
