Bruins Get Buzz Cuts, Raise $100,000 For Pediatric Cancer Care At 9th Annual 'Cuts For A Cause'

BOSTON (CBS) -- The ninth annual Cuts For A Cause, an event to fight pediatric cancer, was held in Boston Wednesday night.

Lucky fans who made generous bids (raising $100,000 for the event) got a chance to play barber for their favorite players, with a special VIP meet and greet beforehand. A handful of Bruins were auctioned off as guest barbers for this year's "Cuts," cutting the hair of their faithful fans.

Hundreds of other fans and listeners packed the Westin Waterfront in Boston to watch, with Toucher & Rich emceeing the event. Rich and Jon Wallach both received their own "cuts" at the event, while the Felger & Mazz crew also participated back at the 98.5 The Sports Hub studios.

The event has now raised over half a million dollars since it began back in 2008 with then-Bruins defenseman Aaron Ward leading the way (only seven members of the team participated in the inaugural year). That torch was passed down to Shawn Thornton in 2010 before Bergeron took over last year.

All proceeds earned will be donated to the Boston Bruins Foundation and Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center.
