Police Find Driver Who Approached 6-Year-Old Boy At Burlington Bus Stop

BURLINGTON (CBS) -- Police say they're close to identifying the driver who allegedly approached a 6-year-old boy at a Burlington bus stop Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened shortly after 3 p.m. near the intersection of Gedick Road and Gibson Street. Police say the man drove up in an older model green car and asked the boy for his name and where he lived. He then ran home to tell his mother what happened and she called police.

Woburn Police spotted a car matching the description at a nearby Applebee's and found the driver was a Burlington resident. Burlington police questioned the man and say there was no criminal intent.

"We believe he had no intention of harming the boy he approached, and that at no time was there a threat to public safety," Police Chief Michael Kent said in a public statement.

Police said the incident remains under investigation. No charges will be filed.
