Man Shot, Killed At Norwood Apartment Complex

NORWOOD (CBS) – A man was shot and killed in Norwood early Monday morning.

Police went to the Stonebridge Apartment complex on Dean Street around 1:40 a.m. after someone called to report hearing gunshots or fireworks in the area.

Officers found 28-year-old Edison Tejeda with multiple gunshot wounds in the back entrance of the building. He was rushed to Norwood Hospital where he died.

Tejeda was a resident of the apartment complex and had a previous address on North Main Street in Brockton.

Police say the murder does not appear to be random. There have been no arrests and authorities are asking for the public's assistance.

Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey says, "his movements in the period before his murder can help us piece together what has happened here."

Detectives are interviewing Tejeda's family and friends.

"It's terrifying," resident Denzell Beasley told WBZ-TV, "knowing that it happened right next door."

"Having a homicide here is extremely rare," Morrissey told reporters at the scene.

The last murder in Norwood was the 2008 beating death of Scott Haynes. Kevin Schultz was convicted of manslaughter in that case in 2010.

Anyone with information about Tejeda's murder is asked to contact police at 781-440-5181.
