Claude Julien Sets Bruins' All-Time Record For Wins

BOSTON (CBS) -- With the Bruins' overtime victory over the Florida Panthers on Monday night, head coach Claude Julien ascended to rarefied air in Bruins history.

The win as Julien's 388th with the Bruins, moving him past Art Ross for the most in franchise history.

The longest-tenured coach currently in the NHL, Julien is now 388-215-85 as Boston's head coach.

On Tuesday morning's show, Fred Toucher said the coach has always been underrated in this town.

"People wanted him fired before the beginning of the season. To that I would say, who do you want to take his place?" Toucher said. "If you ask people around hockey, Julien is believed to be the third-best coach in professional hockey. And in fact, we have a book laying around here that's got him as a top-10 coach of all time ... which I don't know if you agree with or not. It's debatable. But it's Joel Quenneville, it's Mike Babcock, it's Julien. So you have by all accounts the third-best coach. Do you want a retread? John Tortorella still has a job. Bob Hartley still has a job in Calgary, even though he was an absolute unmitigated disaster in Atlanta and is not good in Calgary. He's still got a job.

"It's a very dangerous business, firing your head coach that's been this successful. A message can get lost in the locker room, but you're taking a huge gamble getting rid of the third-best coach in hockey."
