Chick-fil-A Offer: Put Down The Phone, Get Free Ice Cream

SUWANEE, Ga. (CBS) – A popular fast food chain wants to put an end to the distractions at meal time.

More than 150 Chick-fil-A locations are offering a sweet deal to customers: Put down the phone, and get a free ice cream in return.

The idea came from Brad Williams, who operates a Georgia Chick-fil-A, and wanted families dining at his restaurant to spend quality time together.

His solution? A small, square box called the "Cell Phone Coop." Diners each put their phones inside the Coop, and if they stay in there for the entire meal, everyone gets an "Icedream" treat.

"The challenge has completely taken off," Williams said in a post on Chick-fil-A's website. "We have families who aren't successful the first time and come back to try again. We even have people asking to take the boxes home with them! Our whole community is talking about it."

Massachusetts has Chick-fil-A locations in Framingham, Burlington and Westboro. Customers should check with their restaurant first to see if they're offering the deal.
