Bertrand: Major League Baseball Is Killing Itself
BOSTON (CBS) --- Baseball prides itself as a game of tradition. It loves to honor the past, and for that reason is often criticized for holding on to old practices for too long.
On Zolak & Bertrand, Marc Bertrand made it very clear that he isn't a fan of the way Major League Baseball is treating its fans.
"Being a baseball fan in 2016 means Major League Baseball and their teams are taking you for granted," said Bertrand. "It sucks."
Baseball's new traditions, according to Beetle, are becoming anti-fan.
Specifically, the New York Yankees have implemented a new ticket exchange policy, getting rid of print-at-home tickets and pushing for ticket re-sale through the club. Beetle wasn't in favor of this new, team-imposed policy.
"Why the Yankees wanted to really get rid of the print-at-home was they don't want their fans on StubHub. They want them going through their way of doing things," said Beetle.
Bertrand also singled out the Miami Marlins for building a fence to prevent autograph signings as an example of the MLB's current climate of incompetence.
"You're becoming the biggest turn-off going," said Beetle of today's MLB.
