Milton Facility Offers Outdoor Activities For Students On February Break

MILTON (CBS) – With wild swings of weather this week, Massachusetts residents had to be ready to stay inside to avoid the cold or head out to soak in the sunshine. Luckily for students enjoying their February vacation at a Milton camp, the facility has options for either scenario.

New England Base Camp on the Blue Hills Reservation in Milton is run by the Boy Scouts, but open to the public.

It features outdoor activities like hiking, archery, and cooking, but also includes an indoor pool and games when the weather is cold.

This week about 50 students took advantage of the facility during their February break.

During April vacation, New England Base Camp is hosting a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) camp that will include visits from scientists and also field trips to various facilities.

"They realize that they're having fun, but then they don't realize they're learning," General Manager Darren Johnson said.
