ALLAGASH, MAINE (CBS) – A deer’s battle for survival in northern Maine was captured on camera earlier this month.

The staff at Tylor Kellys Camps & Guide Service in Allagash shared video of a face-off between a coyote and deer on the ice. It’s been viewed more than 160,000 times on Facebook.

The camp said it was difficult to watch what was happening.

“A coyote chased a deer out onto the ice and it didn’t look good for the deer,” the camp said. “But she was a fighter and was able to escape.”

It’s hard not to breathe a sigh of relief when the deer makes it out OK, but the camp says it’s best not to take sides.

“In nature there’s no good guys or bad guys,” the camp said. “Just animals living life and doing what they were created to do.”
