Ainge On Olynyk Injury: Should Be Ready To Go After All-Star Break

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Celtics enjoyed a dramatic overtime win over the Clippers on Wednesday night, but Kelly Olynyk wasn't around to see the thrilling end.

The C's big man left Boston's 139-134 victory in the second quarter with a right shoulder injury after colliding with Clippers center DeAndre Jordan. He stayed in the game and hit his two free throws, but was taken out moments later and did not return.

Olynyk ended up in the hospital for X-rays on the shoulder. Head coach Brad Stevens said after the game that Olynyk suffered a subluxation, but Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge told 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich Thursday morning that he was told an MRI revealed Olynyk only suffered a bruised shoulder.

"He should be ready to go after the All-Star break," said Ainge.

That's great news for Boston, who hit the All-Star break at 32-23, good for third place in the Eastern Conference. Olynyk has been a big part of the team's success this season, averaging 10.1 points per game while shooting 46 percent from the field and a career-high 41 percent from three point range.

The C's don't return to action until next Friday night in Utah, giving Olynyk an extra day to recover.
