98.5 The Sports Hub Voted Best Local Sports Radio Station Of The Year By BSM

BOSTON (CBS) -- From a Patriots Super Bowl victory, through a year of DeflateGate "scandal," and with the always-entertaining days of the Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins, it's been a busy year for 98.5 The Sports Hub.

Fortunately, many fans were listening, and as a result, the Hub received a nice honor this week when Barrett Sports Media named 98.5 The Sports Hub as the best local sports radio station of 2015.

The Sports Hub ranked No. 1, ahead of WFAN in New York, 97.1 The Ticket in Detroit, The Ticket in Dallas, and 94 WIP in Philadelphia in the top five.

The rankings were voted on by 35 radio executives from 23 different U.S. cities, and the criteria was based on the station's reputation locally and nationally, ratings success, dynamic talent, compelling content and unique sound.

The Sports Hub edged WFAN by 10 points for the top spot, and there was a 200-plus point dropoff from second to third place.

With the station's success came individual success at the Hub, too.

Program director Mike Thomas was named No. 2 sports radio PD in the country, six points behind WFAN's Mark Chernoff.

Toucher & Rich was voted as the No. 2 morning sports show in the country, behind only Boomer & Carton on WFAN. Felger & Massarotti was voted as the No. 2 afternoon sports show in the country, behind the legendary Mike Francesa. And Zolak & Bertrand came in as the No. 4 midday sports show in its first year as a program.
