Dispatch Audio Released From Chandler Jones Medical Emergency

FOXBORO (CBS) – Dispatch audio recordings from Foxboro's police and fire departments shed some light on what happened Sunday morning when Patriots Pro Bowl defensive end Chandler Jones walked to the Foxboro police station for help with a mysterious medical emergency.

Foxboro police logs show that just after 7:40 a.m. on Sunday, Jones went to the station and asked for medical assistance.

Jones lives in a home a short distance from the station.

About 25 minutes after Jones arrived, he was taken to Norwood Hospital by ambulance. The reason for the medical emergency remains unclear.

The Patriots said Tuesday night they were aware of the situation and it has not had an impact on Jones' playing status with the team.

"Chandler Jones was admitted to the hospital on Sunday and released that day," the Patriots said in a statement. "He reported to work on time Monday morning and has participated in all meetings and practices since then."

Dispatch audio recordings indicate that several officers responded to the police department parking lot while another went to his home to secure the property using keys that were left on a table.

The officer at Jones' home also said in the recordings that drugs were found inside.

"I've got his keys off the kitchen table. Was able to lock the front door," the officer says in the recording. "If you want to pass along to fire, he was definitely involved in Class D – delta before this happened, just so you know."

Drugs considered Class D substances in Massachusetts include marijuana, synthetic marijuana and others.

Boston Globe reporter Chris Gasper reported late Wednesday afternoon that Jones' hospitalization was due to a reaction to synthetic marijuana.

Earlier in the afternoon, Foxboro Town Manager William Keegan released a statement about the town's response to the incident.

Due to the medical nature of this response action and the clear applicability of federal and state laws and regulations which secure the privacy rights of individuals to whom the Town provides medical assistance and prohibit the unauthorized dissemination or release of sensitive medical information, we are currently in the process of assembling and reviewing all documents and information in the Town's possession relative to this response action and we will be discussing the same with legal counsel prior to releasing any documents or further statements in this regard.

Patriots players were available to the media on Wednesday afternoon at Gillette Stadium, but Jones was not among them. Head coach Bill Belichick is not scheduled to speak to reporters until Thursday morning.

Jones was, however, present at practice again on Wednesday following the team's media session.
