Chandler Jones Hospitalized On Sunday For Unknown Reasons

BOSTON (CBS) -- Chandler Jones missed the Patriots' season finale in Miami due to toe and abdomen injuries, but he's been on the practice field this week as the Patriots prepare to host the Chiefs in the divisional round of the playoffs on Saturday afternoon.

Yet in between, Jones required medical attention. The Patriots confirmed to WBZ that Jones was hospitalized on Sunday and released the same day. There are no details on why Jones was in the hospital or what he was treated for.

The Patriots say Jones reported to work on time Monday and has participated in all meetings and practices since then.

The Boston Herald reported that Jones went to the Foxboro police station before 8 a.m. on Sunday with a "medical emergency" and he was thereafter taken to Norwood Hospital.

The Herald report notes that Foxboro police initially denied Jones' presence and later edited dispatch records after receiving the inquisitive call from the newspaper.

The Patriots have not been required to release injury reports yet this week. The first injury report is due Wednesday.

Jones leads all Patriots with 12.5 sacks, which had him ranked fifth in the entire NFL for the season.
