Brockton Teen Hit By Stray Bullet In Stable Condition, Family Says
BROCKTON (CBS) -- The 17-year-old boy who was hit by a stray bullet Monday night while standing in the kitchen of his family's Brockton home is still in critical but stable condition, the teen's father told WBZ-TV.
Police say the teen was an innocent bystander who was struck below the shoulder blade.
The victim, identified by his father as Zak Sidelinger-Hamlin, remains at Boston Medical Center where officials previously said his injuries are non-life threatening.
Counselors were available to students at staff Tuesday at Brockton High School, where Sidelinger-Hamlin is a student.
"Things like this cause trauma for kids who should be able to feel safe in their homes," Brockton High School principal Sharon Wolder," said in a public statement. "We support our student, we wish him well and we look forward to when he is well enough to return to school."
