Donald Trump-Tom Brady T-Shirt: Trump Approves

LOWELL (CBS) -- A man in a Donald Trump-Tom Brady t-shirt got a standing ovation at a Trump rally at UMass Lowell's Tsongas Center Monday night, getting praise from Trump himself.

"Oh, I love that man," said Trump during his speech, pointing at the man's shirt and telling him to stand up. "It says Trump and Tom Brady, look, together. I love Tom Brady."

As the man stood for cameras, Trump pointed him out to the rest of the crowd.

"That is the coolest shirt, I gotta get one of those shirts," said Trump.

The New England quarterback has expressed admiration of Trump in the past. Last September, reporters asked Brady about his relationship with Trump after seeing one of Trump's "Make America Great Again" hats in the athlete's locker. Brady seemed to support Trump when asked about his chances at becoming president.

"That would be great," Brady said. "There'd be a putting green on the White House lawn, I'm sure of that."

The candidate also referred Monday night to Brady's high-ankle sprain sustained in Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins.

"We gotta get Tom better," said Trump. "Remember, Tom Brady injured is still better than anybody else."

"Tom has been very nice to me, and Tom's my friend, and he's been saying great things about me," continued Trump.

The last time reporters pressed Brady about his relationship with Trump, he ended a press conference early, saying he was "just here to play football."
