Man Caught With Weapons At Gillette Held On $17K Bail
WRENTHAM (CBS) – Matthew Bromson laughed, smiled, and shook his head during his arraignment in Wrentham Monday morning. He's accused of threatening people and carrying multiple weapons at a Gillette stadium employee parking lot during the Winter Classic hockey game.
Police say they received multiple calls about Bromson, 49, threatening them with a gun. Witnesses watched as Bromson walked around the employee parking lot placing items like paint brushes and WD-40 on people's cars.
"The defendant stated to me, I did it because I'm just like Santa Claus," prosecuting attorney Peter Kelly said.
At the time of his arrest, Bromson blew a 0.12 on a breathalyzer test. Police say he came to Gillette that day looking to scalp a ticket but decided they were too expensive. That's when he allegedly started heckling people in the parking lot.
Bromson is from Connecticut, where he holds a lengthy police record--including a police standoff in 2014, during which he barricaded himself inside his home while police tried to serve him with an arrest warrant.
He's being charged with trespassing, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and illegal possession of a stun gun. The judge ordered him held on $10,000 cash bail for being a fugitive from Connecticut and $7,500 cash bail for the charges relating to the incident in Foxboro.
Bromson did not waive his right to extradition for his Connecticut charges. Connecticut police will come to Wrentham for an extradition hearing on Jan. 27.
