Fresh Snow A Welcome Sight For Skiers At Wachusett Mountain

PRINCETON (CBS) – Finally, the sky opened up and coated New England with our first snowfall Tuesday morning.

Wachusett Mountain ended up with about three inches of fresh snow and a little bit of sleet mixed in from Mother Nature.

With that jump start they'll be able to make a whole bunch more.

"We will be making snow every possible second. And the temperatures this week are ideal. We're going to be getting down into the low 20s and even into the teens by the weekend and that's real high production. We will be able to almost bury a trail a night," Tom Meyers, the director of marketing at Wachusett, told WBZ-TV.

"We've been waiting since way before Thanksgiving! And this is awesome out here today!" said ski instructor Jane Tobey.

"Oh God, I love skiing, So I wait, like, all year for this," skier Thea Island told WBZ.

An El Nino winter doesn't phase the mountain enthusiasts.

"You just gotta take what you get. Thank God for snow making. That's what keeps this going. I think now because of the late start, we can only look forward to having it last long into the spring." said Meyers.
