Suspect In Vt., N.H. Bank Robberies Surrenders

WEATHERSFIELD, Vt. (AP) — Vermont state police say a man wanted in connection with bank robberies in New Hampshire and Vermont is in custody.

Police say 31-year-old Matthew Martin of Weathersfield, Vermont, surrendered in that town early Sunday morning.

Martin is accused of robbing the Heritage Family Credit Union in Ludlow, Vermont, on Dec. 21, a TD Bank in Loudon, New Hampshire, on Dec. 4 and the Mascoma Savings Bank in Charlestown, New Hampshire, on Dec. 1.

The U.S. Marshal's Service last week offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to his arrest.

In September, Martin pleaded guilty to robbing a credit union, gas station and bank in southeastern Vermont during a three-week stretch. He had been scheduled for sentencing on those charges Dec. 1 but didn't show up.
