Salvation Army Kettle Bell Ringer Outside Quincy's Roche Bros. Has Flair
QUINCY (CBS) -- Standing by her red kettle, bell in hand, Suzanne Reynard is on a mission: to spread joy by singing.
It may be a flurry of activity outside of Roche Bros. in Quincy but people are smiling, and we think it has a lot to do with Suzanne.
Suzanne has been a Salvation Army bell ringer for many years, but a few years ago, a man offered to donate $5 if she sang. So she did. She realized it makes people happy.
"One woman stopped and put a $50 bill in the kettle," she said.
As for that guilt we all feel when we don't have a dollar to spare for every kettle we pass? Suzanne says don't worry about it. A kind word and a smile are more than enough.
"It's about the joy of the season," she said.
"I've got a woman who stops and sings with me a few times a week because she can't afford anything," she said.
