How Much Weight Do You Need To Lose For Others To Notice?

BOSTON (CBS) -- Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought, how much weight would I need to lose for others to notice? A new study tries to answer that question.

Researchers at the University of Toronto focused on facial fat because it can reflect a person's body mass index and they generated digital images that gradually put on weight.

They found that women and men of average height would need to lose between 6-and-8 pounds for it to be noticeable in their face, and about 14 to 18 pounds for them to appear more attractive.

In general, women needed to lose less weight than men for people to enhance their facial appearance.
