National Grid Natural Gas Customers Get Another Price Break

WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) — Many Massachusetts residents who heat their homes with natural gas are getting another break this winter.

National Grid on Tuesday announced a nearly 5 percent drop in the total bill for the typical residential heating customer, which is expected to save them between $6 and $8 per month. The latest reduction follows a reduction of between $5 and $7 per month announced on Nov. 1.

The two factors contributing to the lower prices are an anticipated drop in the cost of natural gas and a credit to customers for the sale of excess gas supply during the warmer months.

Customers who use gas to heat their homes and businesses are guaranteed use of existing pipeline capacity.

National Grid has about 900,000 natural gas customers in Massachusetts.
