Private Funeral Planned For Bella Bond

BOSTON (CBS) – A funeral date has been set for Bella Bond, who was found dead on Deer Island in June.

The toddler, known for months as "Baby Doe" until her identity was found, will be buried on Saturday, Nov. 28, in Winthrop.

A private service has been planned at Ernest P. Caggiano & Son Funeral Home, the funeral home confirmed to WBZ-TV, followed by a burial in Winthrop.

Bond was found dead on the shore of Deer Island on June 25.

Because multiple autopsies were conducted, the child's body was not released by the medical examiner until last week.

Rachelle Bond, the girl's mother, and her boyfriend Michael McCarthy each face charges in Bella's death.

Police say McCarthy killed the toddler while Rachelle Bond helped cover up her death.

Joe Amoroso, the child's biological father, said previously the family planned to hold a public funeral for Bella. But the funeral will be private because Amoroso said it is what Rachelle Bond wants.
