Halifax Man Charged With Stabbing Woman To Death

HALIFAX (CBS) - A Halifax man is being held without bail after prosecutors say he stabbed a prostitute to death in an argument over payment.

According to prosecutors it was a 16-year-old female friend who led police to the Wamsutta Avenue home of 32-year-old Soi Ket Dang after she says he made a gruesome admission.

"The defendant made statements to her about needing to clean up blood in the apartment and having a body in the apartment," said Plymouth County Assistant District Attorney Amanda Fowle.

That body was discovered by police in a closet wrapped in a tablecloth after they say Dang claimed the blood was from an illegal tattoo business he ran. Prosecutors say Dang had hooked up with a prostitute from Revere, and when they argued over how much money she was owed he grabbed her in a bear hug and they struggled.

The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Marissa Randall of Revere.

"The fight proceeds to the kitchen area. He observes a knife bought two to three years ago that looked cool. He never used it and it was still sharp. He takes the knife and stabs the woman approximately three times," said Fowle.

Prosecutors say he stabbed the woman three more times and then waited forty minutes as she died from her injuries, allegedly telling police, "There was not as much blood as expected, not like you see in the movies."

Neighbors say Dang lived in the remote neighborhood for two years and was rarely seen.

"He never came out of the house. He would come home from work you'd see him get his mail and walk in the house," said Tracy Brown.
