WASHINGTON (CBS) — A new ranking shows Massachusetts may be the smartest state in the country.
The Washington Post looked at estimated IQ, 2015 SAT and ACT scores and the percentage of college graduates who are residents to come up with their list.
The newspaper said it was spurred to look at the data after Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump called Iowa voters “stupid.” It turns out that Iowa is the eighth-smartest state, according to the ranking.
Massachusetts is followed by Minnesota, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Wisconsin in the rankings. Vermont comes in seventh.
The bottom three? Mississippi, Nevada and Hawaii, the Post found.
