Son of Martha's Vineyard Resident Seriously Injured In Paris Attacks

MARTHA'S VINEYARD (CBS) -- When Yaan Meerseman of Martha's Vineyard heard about the attacks at Bataclan Theater in Paris on Friday, he knew his son was there.

"There were a bunch of people running in the street running into the cafe,"  Meersseman told WBZ-TV in a Skype interview.

"And they realized something bad was going on. So everybody was trying to get inside and once he got inside, he suddenly realized he was in pain and realized he had been shot."

His son, 34-year-old Arnaud Meerseman was shot in the chest and is now in a coma.

"It took a good two hours before we got the news that he had been shot, but that's all we knew, so that didn't make it better," Meerseman said.

Meerseman said the bullet did not hit any vital organs and his son, a French national, is expected to survive.

Meerseman plans to fly to Paris to be with his son as he recovers.
