Collins, Vollmer Out For Patriots Vs. Giants
BOSTON (CBS) -- The New England Patriots will be without a couple of very important players when they take on the New York Giants on Sunday.
Both linebacker Jamie Collins (illness) and left tackle Sebastian Vollmer (concussion) have been ruled out for Sunday's game. Offensive linemen Marcus Cannon (toe) and Tre' Jackson (knee) have also been ruled out, leaving New England to protect Tom Brady with a makeshift offensive line once again.
Collins, a key contributor on the New England defense and one of the best linebackers in the NFL, missed last Sunday's win over the Redskins as well. It was reported on Thursday that he battling a virus, leaving him very weak and unable to eat.
Four Patriots were listed as questionable on Friday's injury report: cornerback Justin Coleman (hand), wide receiver Keshawn Martin (hamstring), offensive lineman Shaq Mason (knee) and defensive end Jabaal Sheard (ankle). Sheard has missed the last three games, but returned to practice this week in a limited capacity.
Both wide receiver Julian Edelman (knee) and safety Duron Harmon (knee) were full participants on Friday and are probable against New York.
The Patriots will catch a break against the Giants' secondary, as corner Prince Amukamara has been ruled out for Sunday with a pectoral injury. The Giants will also be without wide receiver Victor Cruz (calf), tight end Larry Donnell (neck) and linebackers J.T. Thomas (ankle) and Uani 'Unga (neck), who were all ruled out on Friday.
