I-93 Crash Seriously Injures 3 In Salem, NH

SALEM, N.H. (CBS/AP) -- New Hampshire State Police say three people were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a rollover crash in Salem.

Police say the accident occurred at about 5:30 Sunday morning. They say the 2003 Ford Expedition was travelling south on Interstate 93 in Salem when the driver lost control of the car. The car crashed through a guardrail before overturning multiple times and landing on its roof.

Salem fire officials said they had to cut down trees to remove three people from the car. Two had to be medflighted to a Boston hospital.

Authorities say the driver was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital. One passenger was flown to Tufts Medical Center in Boston and the third was occupant was later transferred from a Methuen, Massachusetts, hospital to Massachusetts General Hospital.

Police say they are not releasing the names of the injured until family members can be notified.

It was not immediately clear what caused the crash.
