Singing To Crying Babies More Soothing Than Talking, Study Shows

BOSTON (CBS) – If you tend to sing a lullaby to your crying baby, you're doing the right thing, according to a new study.

Researchers found that babies who listen to singing stay calm twice as long as those soothed by talking, even if it's baby talk.

In this recent study by Canadian researchers, the babies who listened to recorded Turkish singing stayed relaxed the longest, but even when the mothers themselves sang in French, the effects lasted longer than when moms spoke to their babies.
