Mom Who Sparked Amber Alert Says She Has No Regrets

BOSTON (CBS) -- Tiffany Cherry does not regret for one second driving her sick two month old son Qavai from Pennsylvania to Boston that sparked an amber alert and landed her in jail.

"I brought him to Boston because Boston Children's is where he needed to be. Everything in me told me 'Tiffany, go get your baby to Boston Children's Hospital,'" Tiffany said.

It all started when Tiffany was told by nurse at an emergency clinic in Pennsylvania that Qavai was severely dehydrated and that he must be admitted to an emergency room for further care.

"I was not comfortable with the level of care my child was receiving. I would do anything for my children," Tiffany said.

Tiffany took matters into her own hands. She packed her car and took both her kids and drove 4 1/2 hours to Boston.

"He was found at Boston Children's Hospital to have issues with his esophagus and low white blood count. The severe dehydration came from a nurse who looked at my son for 10 seconds and didn't know what she was looking at," Tiffany said.

Tiffany admits to being in trouble with law in the past but says the amber alert should never had been issued.

"I think the Pennsylvania authorities jumped the gun," Tiffany said. She no longer has custody of her kids.

Tiffany who has already suffered a devastating loss back in 2009 when her first child was still born, says she's extra protective of her kids.

"It hurts. It hurts.  It hurts," Tiffany cried.

Fortunately Qavai is feeling better and is currently in Boston Children's Hospital.

"I'm so thankful to Boston Children's Hospital may have saved my sons life," Tiffany said.

Now she just want to have her sons back in her arms.

"They are my life. I  deserve them back and they deserve their mommy," Tiffany said.

Tiffany is due back in court on Monday.
