BOSTON (CBS) – A traditional Sicilian treat has become a trendy appetizer at Boston area restaurants.

Dan Andelman of the Phantom Gourmet gets a taste of the region’s tastiest arancini.

Everything at Cucina D in Bedford is made from scratch from the tomato sauce that simmers for hours to golden fried arancini.

Affordable Italian food is the specialty at Lui Lui in Nashua, New Hampshire with home-style favorites like hearty lasagna and their addictive arancini.

Mast’ in downtown Boston is known for authentic wood-burning oven pizzas and traditional Italian street foods like panzerotti, Zeppole and Sicilian style arancini stuffed with beef, peas, and mozzarella cheese.

And in the North End, Galleria Umberto might make the biggest arancini in all of Boston and they only cost about three bucks.
