2 Brookline Firefighters Fired For 'Egregious' Off-Duty Incidents

BROOKLINE (CBS) – Two Brookline firefighters were fired this week by selectmen for unrelated off-duty incidents that board members called "egregious."

Firefighter Joseph Ward had been on administrative leave after he allegedly assaulted a homeless man for taking too long to order food at Anna's Taqueria.

Jeremy Joseph, also a Brookline firefighter, was charged with driving drunk and crashing his SUV earlier this month.

During Wednesday night's Board of Selectmen meeting, Brookline officials opted to fire both men.

"Terminating career employees is one of the most difficult actions a Selectman can take, but in these cases the actions of the employees were egregious, violating the Rules and Regulations of the Fire Department and damaging the reputation and credibility of the Fire Department and the Town," selectmen said in a statement.
