LaFell Among Trio Of Patriots Eligible To Come Off PUP This Week

BOSTON (CBS) -- The New England offense hasn't had much issue scoring points this season, but they'll likely get another contributor back in the mix this week.

Receiver Brandon LaFell is eligible to come off of the PUP list after missing the first six weeks of the season with a lingering foot injury he suffered late last season.

LaFell traveled with the team for their last two road games, and is eager to get back into the offense that helped him set new career highs last season. In his first year in New England, LaFell hauled in 74 receptions for 953 yards and seven touchdowns -- all career bests. The receiver was even bigger in the postseason, adding another 13 catches for 119 yards and a pair of touchdowns in New England's three playoff games. He had four receptions and a score in the New England's Super Bowl XLIX win over the Seattle Seahawks.

The offense hasn't missed LaFell too much over the first six weeks of the season, ranking second in the NFL with an average of 422.4 yards per game. They've scored an average of 36.6 points over their first five games of the campaign, which tops the league.

But getting LaFell back will just strengthen New England's offensive attack and depth at receiver. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said Tuesday that LaFell "probably will" start practicing this week, but no official move will be made until they speak with team trainers.

In addition to LaFell, defensive tackle Chris Jones and linebacker Dane Fletcher are also eligible to come off the PUP this week.
