Stonehill College Student Arrested For Campus Threat

EASTON (CBS) – A Stonehill College student has been arrested for issuing a threat that shut down the campus for a day last month, authorities said.

All classes and activities were cancelled on September 25 after the threatening note was left in an on-campus bathroom.

"For privacy reasons, the name of the suspect, a male student enrolled at the College, is not being released," Stonehill spokesman Martin McGovern said in a statement Thursday.

"The individual, who is in the custody of Massachusetts State Police, has been interim suspended from the College and is restricted from campus."

The Taunton District Court clerk identified the student as Benjamin DiBiase. DiBiase is due to be arraigned there Thursday.

State, local and college police searched the campus with bomb-sniffing dogs after the note was found.

No one was hurt.

No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
