Spectacular Fall Sights In Our Sky

Autumn has arrived - time to embrace it! I love this time of year. When I lived down south for grad school, I was so homesick in the Fall. I missed the foliage... so badly in fact, my mom actually sent me some leaves in a card so I could have a little taste of New England in sunny, warm Florida! :)

The dry, crisp air promotes chilly mornings and mild days, which is exactly what we have on tap for today and tomorrow. Our average high for the date in Boston is 70. We'll be right on the mark at Logan airport with a sea breeze kicking in today, but our inland friends will climb into the middle and upper 70s. Enjoy these next few days!

Now, if you missed the International Space Station flyby this morning, you'll have another opportunity tomorrow morning!

Watch: Videographer Jason Bacon captured the flyby live on WBZ-TV:

The next amazing sight in our night sky happens this weekend. On Sunday, we will be able to experience a rare celestial occurrence: a super moon AND total lunar eclipse… at the same time!

Of course the big question becomes, will we have clear skies for viewing?

It's tough to say. On Friday, a new dome of high pressure will build out of eastern Canada reinforcing the dry air and cool onshore wind; highs won't make it out of the mid to upper 60s.

We hold on to the 60s this weekend… although a few communities may come close to 70. Perfect weather for the Pats! High, thin cirrus clouds will arrive in advance of an area of low pressure approaching from the south late on Sunday, which wouldn't be so bad.

Here's hoping the thicker clouds hold off until Sunday night – we'll keep you posted!
